My Big Chop!!!

For the last couple of years, i've had it in my mind that I want to grow my hair out so that it can get long. It only recently occured to me (after being inspired by my buddy Anya), that the best way to grow my hair out is to grow it out in its natural state. It will be less maintenance, my hair will be healthier, and I will still have the option of straightening it...win/win!

So I have decided to chop all of my processed hair off! :) This past friday (Sept. 9) I chopped most of my hair off. No regrets, I feel great about it! My hair is learning how to curl again (sounds strange, I know). every day it gets more and more curly and i'm loving it. I will be posting my hair journey as I learn new things about my hair and as it grows. Stay tuned!!

The next day...I CUT IT EVEN SHORTER!

Chalazion (eyelid cysts)

Ok so I got this strange little cyst under my eyelid earlier this year. I'm used to getting stye's so I though that it was another one--I kinda just ignored it thinking it would go away like my stye's have. Well...it didn'tand, on top of that, I got another one on the other eyelid! I did some research and found that they are called chalazia (chalazion plural). They are not styes because they develop undler the eyelid instead of near the eyelashes and they take months to a year to go away as opposed to a stye which takes a week or two.

I finally got tired of my eyes looking all droopy and made an eye doctor appointment. they confirmed that they are chalazion and suggested that I get surgery to get them removed (Eeeeek...surgery!?) I declined surgery and came home to do more research. I found some youtube videos of the procedure and it doesn't seem too bad...sounds worse than it seems.

I've decided to go ahead and get it done. My appointment is coming up on september 21. NeRvOuS...I'll post an update later to show before and after pictures. In the meantime i'll post a regular picture:

60 Years and counting

This past weekend was my mom's 60th birthday. I wanted to do something special, so with my brother and my aun't help I planned a surprise birthday lunch for her at a restaurant called Bahama Breeze. To say the least--it was a success, she was VERY surprised!
wait for it...

She was soo surprised! Yay! And she got to reconnect with some of her family members that she hadn's seen in a while:
