My Big Chop!!!
For the last couple of years, i've had it in my mind that I want to grow my hair out so that it can get long. It only recently occured to me (after being inspired by my buddy Anya), that the best way to grow my hair out is to grow it out in its natural state. It will be less maintenance, my hair will be healthier, and I will still have the option of straightening it...win/win!
So I have decided to chop all of my processed hair off! :) This past friday (Sept. 9) I chopped most of my hair off. No regrets, I feel great about it! My hair is learning how to curl again (sounds strange, I know). every day it gets more and more curly and i'm loving it. I will be posting my hair journey as I learn new things about my hair and as it grows. Stay tuned!!

Chalazion (eyelid cysts)
Ok so I got this strange little cyst under my eyelid earlier this year. I'm used to getting stye's so I though that it was another one--I kinda just ignored it thinking it would go away like my stye's have. Well...it didn'tand, on top of that, I got another one on the other eyelid! I did some research and found that they are called chalazia (chalazion plural). They are not styes because they develop undler the eyelid instead of near the eyelashes and they take months to a year to go away as opposed to a stye which takes a week or two.
I finally got tired of my eyes looking all droopy and made an eye doctor appointment. they confirmed that they are chalazion and suggested that I get surgery to get them removed (Eeeeek...surgery!?) I declined surgery and came home to do more research. I found some youtube videos of the procedure and it doesn't seem too bad...sounds worse than it seems.
I've decided to go ahead and get it done. My appointment is coming up on september 21. NeRvOuS...I'll post an update later to show before and after pictures. In the meantime i'll post a regular picture:

60 Years and counting
This past weekend was my mom's 60th birthday. I wanted to do something special, so with my brother and my aun't help I planned a surprise birthday lunch for her at a restaurant called Bahama Breeze. To say the least--it was a success, she was VERY surprised!
So, it's been a year...
Hey everyone,
as you know i'm not good at this blogging thing. It's been a whole year now and I have since started a couple more adventures...
My first child became a BIG sister and my second child was born on August 25, 2011. Meet Adalyn Aniese Olayemi Dada...

The Dream Giver
Ok, so i'm back! With a new purpose! I've returned to blogging to mark my journey towards my dream, this being day 1.
Upon recommendation from a few friends, i've recently started reading a book by Bruce Wilkenson. The first half of the book narrates a parable about a nobody who's given a dream repesented by a feather.
The entire parable details the nobody's journey to ultimately achieving their dream, the encounter fears, obstacles, victories, setbacks, and much more. I must admit, the beginning of the book is not what piqued my interest. I haven't finished reading yet, the the second half of the book incites a probing into the reader's mind to get them thinking about what dream they have been given and born to fulfill--This is where I started to pay attention. Two key questions have been floating around my mind for the past couple of days and have inspired me to this point:
What have I always enjoyed doing? and, What would I do if I had no limits or restraints of any kind?
Answer 1: As I think back to my childhood...I found that I have always loved to create. I loved to draw, write songs with my bestie, write plays and act them out, write short stories, paint with the legendary Bob Ross (on tv), and play and listen to music. Creativity has been woven into the fibers of my very being.
Answer 2: If I had no limits of any kind, I would have a studio in my home in which I could outlet my creativity at my own leisure. It would be a place where I would play music and paint, draw, design, enjoy photography, and make crafts. I would decorate and redecorate often, it would be a cozy haven of sorts.
So with these answers under my belt, I have decided to start on the path towards my dream by establishing myself as an artist. Those who know me have encountered my creative side in one way or another and now I feel that its time to make some solid steps in the right direction.
To top it all off, I got in my car to come home after a long day of store hopping, reached to my left to pull the seatbelt over me, and...spotted, resting neatly on the other side of the window...a feather!
Co-incidence?... I really don't think so :c)
I was so surprised to see it, I rolled the window down and grabbed the feather before I could take a picture...but I re-staged it so that you could see the peculiarity of the whole thing. Keep in mind, I was at the mall...not this open area that you see.

Storyville
Hey! It's been a while...i'm going to TRY and keep up, but with this wonderful weather, i'm just not disciplined to sitting at the computer as often. Today was a rainy day so Dilana and I ventured out to a place called Storyville. It's a pre-school wonderland set up at the library and best of all, it's FREE!! Anyways, Dilana had a blast. We will be returning--weekly.
